Due to the strong uprisings under the leadership of Gandhiji in 1947, the country got its independence after more than 100 years of British rule. 

The remains of the history are still intact in the forms of Museums and Palaces. There are several ancient monuments and Museums that open up the old pages of history to a traveler. Dating back to the medieval period, The ancient remains of the rulers are still preserved in Museums like Hill Palace, and Tripunithara in Kerala. The Mysore Palace is also an extricating monument with lots of valuable remains of the past. The Bakel fort of Kasrgode also embarks on majestic architecture and heritage implants from the past. 

The Napier museum sitated at Thiruvananthapuram, the Capital city of Kerala is yet another attraction which brings us old memories and turnback to the old civilization.  The Taj Mahal, The Red Fort, The Gateway of India, and the Qutub Minar are other epitomes among the several monuments from the past. They lonk the present worlkd to the ancient history and culture.
